The inauguration exhibition presents the project passage2011, which created enormous international attention at the last Venice Biennale: In May 2011 the artist duo GÆG (Thomas Huber and Wolfgang Aichner) started their unconventional art project: The undertaking was driven by hope - bare handed the artists dragged a self-made boat over the Alps. Neo-romantic aspirations and sisyphean exertion characterized the mission, whose apparent aim was to launch the boat into the lagoon in time for the most distinguished art event in the world, the Venice Biennale – to eventually celebrate the victory of art over nature in a triumphal journey up the Canale Grande or to fail dramatically.

The project can be seen as well from May on at Kunsthalle Emden and at the National Gallery of Iceland in Fall 2013. In connection to these exhibitions a catalogue will be published at Hirmer-Verlag (Munich).
