In her atmospheric painting Icelandic artist Gudrun Kristjánsdóttir examines aspects of proximity and distance, movement and stillness. Her work moves between abstraction and figuration, while the motives derive from the Icelandic nature. The tracks that are inscribed in the landscape by the weather, are the formal occasion to think about perception and temporality.
Kristjánsdóttir studied art in Reykjavík and Aix-en-Provence; numerous solo and group exhibitions have taken her to Europe, the USA, and China. Her works can be found in major international collections, including the National Gallery of Iceland, the British Carnegie Museum of Art, or the Walter Stohrer Foundation in Germany.
